What three big rains taught us about our drainage stress points, and the four wards we're sending crews to next.
Three rain events this week, all over 8 mm/hr at peak. No serious flooding — but our flood-vulnerability map lit up in fourteen places, and we know each of them well by now.
The biggest stress point remains the Madanrting school zone gully. The covers we installed last month are holding, but the inflow is more than they're rated for. We are going to add a secondary inlet ten metres upstream this week.
Mawlai Pdeng's drainage is doing well after the December overhaul. Mawkhar, less so. We have a crew there Tuesday.
Citizen reports: 47 drainage-related grievances filed this week, down from 71 last week. That tracks, but the median time to acknowledge slipped from 41 to 58 minutes — we'll fix that.
Two thank-yous: to the Mawlai resident who filmed the storm-drain failure on Friday afternoon, and to the school council in Madanrting who escalated quickly when they noticed the open manhole near the school gate. Both made the response faster.
